Our Horses
Melvin!
We bought Melvin in December 2005 when he was 3 years old, he was barely broken and wouldn't walk of the lead. Melvin competes western to a very high level achieving 3rd in British Barrel Racing in 2010. He also hunts and show jumped, being very rerly beaten out jumping or in the show ring doing working hunters, to ad to his CV he carriage drives too! Being quite the show man and center of attention where every we take him. Melvin was broken to harness by ourselves in 2006 loving his job from the very start. Melvin is now 9 and still acting like a youngster with a spring in his step loves everything he does!
Smokey Joe
Smokey was bought on Ballinasloe Horse Fair in Ireland in October 2010 as an unbroken 5 year old. Being very un socialized and coming straight down of the hills Smokey's first encounter on the fair was him trying to kick Richard followed by Smokey slipping in the mud and falling over when being asked to trot on! He is now after a lot of hard work a very lovely chap (who does his love polo's and carrots) who is a master under a western saddle and dream to ride having smooth flowing paces and a lovely temperament to boot, he is the high light of the yard who you will have to meet!
Skittles
Skittles hasn't been with us not too long being bought for Mia in October 2011. Skittles is a heavy weight cob who knows his job and will happily take a novice or an experienced rider round either the arena or the Wolds and give them an enjoyable ride! Being only 4 we are hoping to break Skittles to harness in the near future and see if he takes to it as well as Melvin!
Dolly
Dolly is a Black & White 4 year old 13.2hh cob. Dolly is a delight to be around and loves having a brush and a fuss! Being mostly white she is very hard to clean but will stand all day for a pamper! She likes to go for a hack round the countryside and also enjoys playing games like around the world and scissors with her riders, she is a real little gem and we would be lost without her.
Poppy
Poppy is our children's lead rein pony. She is a little love who doesn't really want to do very much, but will when she has to! She is very quite to do with, and as well as Dolly loves a fuss and a cuddle as well as a good brush!
Samson
Samson is a real rough diamond! He pulls a living wagon up to Appleby Horse Fair every June and really loves his job, he will turn his hoof to everything being able to jump 3ft and loving Cross Country. To say he is a very heavy traditional cob he is a joy to ride being very sensitive to the leg, he also rides western and try's his hardest to pull of all the moves (even trying his hardest at barrel racing!)
ClareMare
ClareMare is our steady away confidence giver, she pulls a living wagon to Appleby Horse Fair with Samson every June so does have a turn of foot! But with her getting on a bit in life now and been there and seen more or less everything possible she does like to take things a little steadier then Samson at times!
Red
Red was very recently bought to add to our collection. As maybe guessed by his name he is all Chestnut with only a white star on his head. Red is a full bred trotter so can break the speed limits when required but is a very safe enjoyable hack but can put that little spark back into riding!
Dandy!
Dandy was born in June 2011 and was bred by William Buck. His Dam was a coloured mare and his Sire was Silver Dollar who is very famous in his own right. Dandy is a very cheeky chap who loves a fuss about as much as he loves his food! Also his best friend is Smokey Joe who he loves to bits!
